Founded in 1994, and based in Arlington, Nebraska, the league includes 20 participating communities from Nebraska and Iowa, including Arlington, Ashland, Auburn, Bennington, Blair, DC West, Elkhorn, Ft.Calhoun, Gretna, Gross, Hickman, Logan-Magnolia, Missouri Valley, Nebraska City, North Bend, Oakland-Craig, Plattsmouth, Roncalli, Sprongfield Platteview, Tekamah-Herman, West Point and Yutan. This league was founded in 1964. Despite its name, it is open to all youth regardless of their relgious affiliation. Players in grades 1-3 participate in flag football. 4th through 8th graders play tackle football. Wieght restrictions apply at every level. Contact the president at 771-2967.
4th, 5th and 6th graders in Indinola can participate in tackle football courtesy of Indinola Youth Football. This league was founded in 1992 and currently sports 14 teams in two size brackets. A rare feature of this league is that children are drafted onto a squad and remain on the squad throughout their tenure. The MYF was founded in 1971 to provide the youth of Cedar Rapids the opportunity to play both flag and tackle football. WIYS was started in 1991 in Council Bluffs and offers takcle football to the residents of southwest Iowa. Children in grades 4 through 7 are invited to play at no cost. Players will be assigned to teams based in high school districting. The partipating school districts include Abraham Lincoln, AHST, Lewis Central, Riverside, Saint Albert, Thomas Jefferson, Treynor, Tri-Center and Underwood. Some weight restrictions apply.
